Welcome back to the healthy life podcast. Today I want to touch on something that has become quite evident. I released some jaw dropping info yesterday that shows without a doubt that many of the things we suffer from as stroke survivors are caused through a deficit nutritionally. In fact in some cases I’ll bet you can trace the stroke to nutritional deficiencies. Anyone who doubts me or my research can google “magnesium deficiency” and get the information themselves.
I combine that with the fact that as a former practicing medical professional I’m careful about what is out there and how I react to it. I do my do diligence before making suggestions and then challenge you to check it out. My amazement comes in the response or lack of it that I notice. If I put out a post that says... “I’m so depressed I want to die!” I would get hundreds of responses.... I’ve seen it! Yet when I post information that can change your life and improve it.... crickets! Now I’m not saying that some did respond favorably but I was amazed to see how little good and positive info is passed along! For those of you that did... great... and thx...
Let’s consider the facts... Fact... we possess information that shows 68% of people are deficient in magnesium! Fact... magnesium is required for proper cellular communication and movement within the body! Fact... many health issues are caused by or magnified by magnesium and other nutritional deficiencies!
Ok. 1 + 1 = 2 simple truth...
I know that’s not earth shattering but the implications here are huge. I know most people say that if they could take a pill to fix their stroke ....they would! But would they? I read a book years ago called “Change or Die” by Deutschman that showed that people would only alter their behavior and choices for a short while... even if they knew continuing in the old ways would lead to rapid death...
Wow! I guess it’s true you can lead a horse to water or in this case... suggest life altering choices... easy to implement and most will ignore it or feel it’s not for them. You know I experienced my stroke almost 18 years ago and did everything I could for three years... three years with no results. Then in desperation I went overseas for help... I tried everything else! I remember meeting with my physician who patted me on the back and said. “Have a nice vacation because I don’t feel there’s much hope.”
Then I returned 5 months later with obvious changes and more that came in the next year... well I made it a point to go to my physician within days of my return. She was dumbstruck... amazed... at the changes she saw in me... but then said... “I’m so glad you found something that worked for you...”
Well that statement spoke volumes to me... I continued to see her another 6 months and then moved to a new medical office and doctor. I knew I had to do what was best for me. That was almost 13 years ago and even though I’ve gotten physically older I’ve improved and gotten better every year. In fact my current doc says I’m a walking billboard for stroke restoration!
The reason I point this out is the challenge I face everyday ... I’m a member of multiple online stroke groups and want nothing but the best for any and all stroke survivors. I know what is possible because I’ve lived it. I’m very careful about what I say and who I say it to. I started this podcast to provide hope, information, and inspiration. I hope people will share these podcasts with others... I want to help... if you have a story, tell me and we will get you on.... if you want specific info or interviews I’ll get them... I learned a long time ago to never say never. And we only move forward when we inspire debate and thinking outside the box. You know I hold fast to a quote from Walt Disney, “If you can dream it, you can do it.”
Well I saw myself getting better... I didn’t make room for failure or not making it happen... and guess what... against all odds, counsel to the contrary, and advice from medical professionals... I got better and blew away all expectations... unlike what I had been told I’m just like hundreds of thousands who refuse to give up or give in...
I know there are plenty of nay sayers out there.... individuals who see themselves as victims of their strokes and circumstances but I prefer to be the author of my story and not bow to the thoughts and will of others... as I’ve said to any who will listen... “You can argue with fate, I prefer to create my own destiny" - Ruth Lycke. I hope you do too!
Well unfortunately that’s all the time we have for today ... i hope you’ll take heart and hold fast, use and share what you’ve learned and choose to become the creator of your own destiny. Remember you have the cure inside!
