Welcome back to the Healthy Life Podcast...because of circumstances beyond our control we had two weeks where we could not produce podcasts but today we’re back with enthusiasm and gusto today! I want to bring up and chat about the fact that too often we find ourselves facing internal questions within such as... will I ever get better... will I always struggle... is it worth it? I won’t lie to you ... many day you’ll feel like you’ll always battle with those questions in your mind but... you need to have answered them deep in your heart! We have always had multiple questions in our hearts and minds. Questions about all kinds of things... now unfortunately....they seem to just revolve around our stroke.
Although the tendency is to want to make our life focus around our stroke... we have to accept the reality of the “event” and move past it. We have to move on to recover our lives and reassemble our actions day to day. We must convert the “why” questions that permeate our mind into the “what now” questions! It’s easy to become angry, frustrated , and upset at what we seemingly can’t do or what seems difficult at the time and spend all our time and energy on that... but... and I will be blunt ... if we waste our time and energy... that’s right I said it... “waste it” and spend our time and energy on the bad, negative things, and hold hopes thoughts we will reap negative results...
All this is a result of our choices... we weren’t this way before our stroke! Listen to yourself! Again the stroke... the event... get over it. It is the past! So often we have rapidly conditioned ourselves and built up layers of defense mechanisms in order to cope and survive... we avoid. Find fault or blame in how we deal with and handle things. We deflect or commiserate, or shift guilt we feel on to others... we see ourselves as a result of and confined by our circumstances. But what do you need to do today? How can you effectively begin to heal? Do you need to...
We need to stop focusing on the stroke and instead shift our focus to the tasks at hand. Sure things may take longer to be accomplished, we will often need to alter and do things differently, our approach may be different. If we are busy and focused on doing we don’t waste time commiserating with ourselves, we “worry” less, decrease anxiety .... and why? Because if we are busy doing the things we need to, to live... we are focused on living... doing... not simply existing!
I have spent the last week shooting video and putting the final touches on my soon to be released Do-app. Why? To help others overcome! To demonstrate exercises and help others succeed and live! It’s the most humbling thing I have ever done... why... I’m overweight and it shows but as a result everything I do is real! It’s believable and not masked or airbrushed!
